Hey senior (or almost senior)! Choosing the best spot for your senior photos can be overwhelming fun, am I right?! Well this is one of the top questions that I get asked as a senior photographer and I thought it would be helpful to compile a list for your planning!
I’ve been a senior photographer in Dallas for about three years and this is my hometown (I like the Cowboys on their winning days).
During that time, I discovered so many gems in the city that I’ve taken my seniors too. And today, I want to share it with you!
In this industry, photogs can be extremely protective of a list like this. But not me. I’m your graduation sHERO (just don’t tell them, I told you).
So without further ado, here we goooo:
Parks/Nature:
1. White Rock Lake
White Rock has a TON of spots to shoot amazing photos but this most popular place would be by the board walk lookout. To get there you have to park by Boy Scout Hill (which is another awesome place I take my clients to).
2.Turtle Creek Park | Arlington Hall
You get a two for one at this place! You can head to Arlington Hall for some beautiful pillars and building structure (usually free game unless there’s a wedding). You could also head behind the hall to this GORGEOUS park. Turtle Creek Park is massive so there are plenty of spots that will be perfect.
3.Dallas Arboretum
I feel like this is a no-brainer lol. Dallas Arboretum is AMAZING and a classic option for a lot of photographers. It’s a popular spot so warning that it can be crowded. There is a $15 charge to enter and a parking fee so beware of that too. But it’s HUGE so go crazy.
4.Texas Discovery Gardens
This place is such a GEM inside Fair Park in Dallas. Not only does it have an incredible garden but it has this gorgeous butterfly house. There is a $10 fee to enter but it gives you access to their entire grounds. I did a maternity shoot here but I would come here again and again.
Urban/City Vibes
5.Mandalay Canal Walk in Las Colinas
This spot is so so beautiful. It’s giving Spain and Italy for SURE. The canal is huge so there’s a lot of awesome places to take senior photos. It does get crowded but everyone is really nice about sharing the space.
6.Dallas Design District
OKAY, LISTEN UP. This is my hidden gem. Dallas Design District is so great and I find a new place every time down here. However my fav is this little nook right behind the Daltile, Marazzi Showroom & Design Studio. Idk what Daltile is but shout out to you! lol
7.Winspear Opera House
If you have looked up any senior photoshoot in Dallas on Pinterest, there is a 97% chance this location comes up. It is SO diverse and that makes it a favorite spot for photographers and seniors alike. I would park next to Booker T. Washington High School and then go crazy up and down the street!
8.Margaret Hunt Bridge
Another staple spot for photogs. Most people stay on the bridge and take senior photos there but the real magic is actually UNDER the bridge. There are so many cool ways to be creative here.
9.The UNT Dallas Law Building in Downtown Dallas
I freakin LOVE this building. It’s so classy, so prestigious, so perfect for a senior photography location. I would definitely go here during the week. Downtown can be a pain on weekends.
WHEW. Okay, I hope that this list gets you excited about taking senior photos in Dallas! My goal is to continue to add to this list every month. Make sure you check back.
